Neighbourhood Watch Sports Trust was set up as a registered charity (no.1081107) in June 2000, primarily to reduce youth crime and annoyance by encouraging them to take part in organised sport in preference to hanging around street corners.
Research done in America had shown that involving youth in community sports wuold alter the attitude of mind of youth as to what was acceptable to society possibly through peer pressure, reduce drug and alcohol abuse in the young.
